BEYOND Patient Health Equity is a relatively new organization, however, with a new outlook, dream and mindset, we are determined to make a big change to the world of medical research and clinical trials. Our founders both have a history and experience in the medical field and have seen firsthand how inequity plays a role in the level of care and access to healthcare one receives when ill. By shifting these norms and making this a world where inequity among races, genders, backgrounds and orientations does not exist in the medical field, we will make major leaps towards a happier and more fruitful life for all peoples.
Truth is...our Founder & President Dorosella Green, MS-PREP (she/her) was tired of hearing "minorities just don't participate in clinical trials." Especially when she knew there was more to the story!
For so long BIPOC have been given healthcare but never have they been
true partners in their health. Our goal is to return agency over their health back to where it belongs, with the individuals!
Dora’s older sister had Sickle Cell Anemia, a rare blood disease that is hereditary and at times fatal.
Clinical trials extended her life…significantly.
Ultimately when Dora donated Bone Marrow for her sister’s Transplant, it cured her. Despite the success rate of only 75% (during that time), Dora’s sister had no complications. Today she is healthy and thriving!
Her sister was fortunate, her family was educated, and had the language to advocate and navigate the healthcare system. This is not the same for all families, that’s why Dora started BEYOND Patient Health Equity. She wants to create change that is not only going to impact families today, but for generations to come!
